GREY HIGHLANDS LANDOWNERS

INDUSTRIAL WIND TURBINES HAVE BECOME A TOPIC IN OUR COMMUNITY - AGAIN!

  • WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE PROPOSED PROJECTS IN THE FEVERSHAM TO EUGENIA CORRIDOR, AND ON THE PLATEAU BETWEEN MAXWELL AND DUNDALK?
  • WHO HAS CONTACTED YOU ABOUT IT?
  • HAS ANYONE OFFERED TO DISCUSS A LAND LEASE WITH YOU?
  • WHAT PLANS ARE THERE FOR WIND TURBINES IN YOUR IMMEDIATE AREA?
  • IS THE FUTURE OF OUR ECOLOGICALLY DIVERSE AND BEAUTIFUL GREY HIGHLANDS GOING TO BE INDUSTRIAL POWER PRODUCTION

New developers are promoting more industrial wind projects in the area, in particular, a five turbine project just east of Lake Eugenia between the 8th and 10th concessions, and an eighteen turbine project betweeen Maxwell and Dundalk, called the Plateau project.. Please consider the following advice:

1. If you are approached by a wind developer or someone who is offering a lease for a wind project, CONTACT A LAWYER BEFORE DISCUSSING ANY LEGAL AGREEMENT OR CONTRACT.

2. Regardless of how green you perceive this intermittent energy source to be, IT IS STILL A FOR PROFIT INDUSTRIAL INSTALLATION THAT NEEDS TO BE SITED APPROPRIATELY. Just because it is emissions free, does not mean it is impact free! These projects cannot move forward without the cooperation of individual landowners like you, so -

3. EDUCATE YOURSELF! There is a great deal of information available about industrial turbines. Some of the major issues are -

  • NOISE AND VIBRATION
  • HOW FAR TURBINES SHOULD BE SITED FROM HOMES
  • VISUAL IMPACT & SHADOW FLICKER [STROBE EFFECTS]
  • FRAGMENTATION OF WILDLIFE HABITAT
  • IMPACT ON BIRDS AND BATS
  • DESTRUCTION OF NATURAL AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENTS
  • IMPACT ON PROPERTY VALUES
